About NCNW Dayton Section
In 1957, a group of twenty-five women gathered at the home of Mrs. P. Booker Harris on Montclair Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. They were joined by Mrs. Jean Caper, a councilwoman and attorney-at-law, and Mrs. Arie P. Taylor, an assistant regional director of the Ohio Council of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). Mrs. Capers invited the ladies to become members of the NCNW, and they accepted with enthusiasm.
The Dayton Section of the NCNW was born, with the hope that its members would uphold its purpose, aspirations, and accomplishments with pride.
